Pippen quickly settled into her new home. She made good friends with 'the brothers' - Jerry, Tweedie and Little Bear as well as Flynn (my daughters' cat). After all the cats had worked out what Pippen actually was, they accepted her gracefully and all took turns to lick her and groom her - which Pippen loved. She slept like a top each night and was no trouble to toilet. At first it was once a night but before long we went through the night without needing to toilet as long as she was taken outside before bed and then again first thing in the morning.

Pippen is a very fussy eater and picks at food, eats like a sparrow and for some months I worried about this constantly. The only time Pippen even looked like she enjoyed food was when she was pregnant, and then she blew us away with the amount she ate. Meantime though it was a daily task to tempt her with some little thing she would eventually pick at, as if to say 'is this all you've got?' She sometimes immitated the cats and wanted their food simply because they were eating it - I worried that she actually thought she WAS a cat.

Pippen loved playing with the cats and they in turn were very gentle with her and not once played with their claws out. They let her get away with murder though and there was one rule for the cats and one for Pippen!

Small Dogs Make Fantastic Company

About 2 years ago I saw an advertisement for a puppy and a shock went through me. You know that kind of feeling that says 'this puppy and I are going to be the best of friends'. Needless to say I enquired and was told the puppy was a chihuahua x pappillion. It really didn't matter what breed the puppy was it was just a case of love at first sight. I remember the night we bought her home. She was named Pippen and was the cutest little soul. As light as a feather and fitted snugly into my palm. The family she had left behind were going to miss her and the last advice they gave was to point out that Pippen had slept with them and they didn't want her to be lonely at night in her new home. I assured them Pippen would sleep with me and I would never let her be lonely.
